History
Originally a ring fort, on which a fortified manor was built in the 14th century; it was destroyed during the invasion of Sigismund Luxembourg in 1382. The village was mentioned in 1369 as the property of Bartosz Wezenborg. Destroyed in 1879.
Description of the structure
Location of the historic structure. In the Kuroch River valley, among meadows, about 300 m west of the village
Description of the site. A ring fort with a base of 73 x 74 m, now about 65 m in diameter and up to 1 m high. In the first phase, the rampart of the hillfort was built in a grid construction, with a stone berm on the outside; the inner yard has a seven-layer cobbled surface. In the centre there was a well of log construction. The structure of the second phase hillfort cannot be reconstructed due to destruction. The object burned down in phases I and II.
History of the site. Known at least from the 2nd half of the 19th century. “Dispersed” in 1879. Entered in the register of historic monuments in 1986.
Progress and findings of archaeological research. Inspection of the site in 1934. In 1986, a survey by Grzegorz Teske. In 1987 surface surveys were conducted as part of the AZP (Archaeological Picture of Poland) project.
Visitor access. The site is open to the public.
