The Frieden Shaft is a vertical machine shaft, built on a rectangular plan.
Its excavation began in 1806 to facilitate the construction of the Frederick Deep Adit. The shaft is 53 m deep and was utilized used to supply water to the nearby ore washing plant using a steam engine.
