Adit shaft no. 17, built in 1823, reached a depth of 30 meters.

It was built to facilitate the construction of the Frederick Deep Adit section. The shaft is surrounded by a circular, roofed and partially reconstructed building. In the 1950s it was opened to visitors as part of the Black Trout Adit. Currently, together with the Ewa shaft form the main tourist entrance to this historic adit.
