Its construction involved 25 shafts, known as “light holes” (German: “Lichtlöcher”), most of which were sealed after the work was completed. The water accumulated during the construction was drained by a 20-inch steam engine, which was being moved as the construction progressed. The adit and its ditches became part of the so-called Central Drainage System of the Royal Friedrich Mine. The underground water reaching the Reden Hill through the tunnel of the same name were dammed to the height of approx. 6 m using a 60-inch steam engine to enable gravity-based supply to the Stoła river.
